So, what do you do – build websites?
In a sense, yes—you can call everything you see in a web browser a ‘web site’ after all. But we’re about so much more too. We’re not simply a ‘web-design’ firm, we mainly deal in more complex web-based solutions, either for in-house use, ‘software as a service’ or public-facing portals and social networking web sites. With this in mind, it might be easier to think of us as ‘software development’ specialists. In technical terms, we build custom web-based software applications.
Tell me more about your company and how it works
Magic Web was established in 1999 by Vladimir Yakimenko. The company was created with the aim of providing the UK market with access to some of Europe’s top programming talent.
Here at Magic Web we place an emphasis on exceptional account and project management, innovative user-interface design and in-house technical support. Our team consists of highly experienced and passionate web developers managed from our UK base of operations.
With Magic Web you get the best of both worlds – local account and project management, branding and design services and access to a highly experienced and affordable offshore software development team. Why do we choose to source our talent overseas? It’s simple – our purchasing power allows us to leverage the best and most efficient programmers available, a saving which is passed on directly to our UK clients.
We typically serve 20 to 30 clients a year running one or several projects for each. Most of our business comes from repeat orders from existing clients.

What size is your typical project?
We prefer not to place limitations or constraints on our service. Our past/present clients range from SME’s through to large corporations with an international presence. At Magic Web our primary focus remains delivering unique solutions developed from intelligent concepts. We are typically suited to projects requiring a small, focused development team – an environment where we are uniquely placed to outclass the competition in terms of productivity, responsiveness and performance. Whilst we are a relatively small company, our pool of premium talent allows us to work more efficiently, which in turn enables us to develop complex and demanding applications which may present a problem for even the largest of software development firms.

How do you work?
Whilst we employ a systematic approach to all our projects, we also appreciate the need to foster a dynamic environment through which new and exciting ideas can flourish. Dependent on the task at hand, we will often use a mix of agile and organic development practices - encouraging client interaction throughout the process both to promote creativity and solve problems efficiently. What information do you need from me to get started?
Unlike many software development specialists we won’t ask you for a 20 page project brief – we’re pretty good at getting a feel for what our clients are looking for within a short period of time. We appreciate each project has its own unique set of constraints and opportunities, so it’s difficult to generalise. Below however is a short list of general information we require for every project:
- A copy of any pre-written documentation such as a business plan, scoping or technical document.
- Access to legacy code and database (if we're building on an existing application)
- Project parameters such as budget; deadline/timeframe; technical mandatories (language, platform etc.)
